Entered Ole Miss in fall of 1973, graduated in Spring of 1977. When I started Ole Miss I was a "wide-eyed innocent" sort of...had a lot of different friends, and learned a lot about myself and people in general. Sometimes I wish I'd stayed for another year, but at the time I was ready to get out into the real world...
I worked at various jobs, usually construction/carpentry type jobs, lived and worked in New Orleans for about one year...worked at Hinds General Hospital on their maintenance crew for about a year until I signed up with the Coast Guard. Attended OCS at Yorktown, VA starting on April 1, 1979. From there I got orders to go to Juneau Alaska. ried in December of 1980. It was about 14 below zero on our wedding day. Less than a year later November 11, 1981 our daughter Bree was born. In the spring and summer of 1982 I was faced with the decision of whether to stay in the Coast Guard or not, and decided to stay in Alaska. I decided to stay, and I'm glad I did, but it has not always been easy to make a living here...for several years I worked in the construction/carpentry field again and that turned out to be quite seasonal, in other words, the work pretty much dried up during the winter months. In August of 1984 our second daughter Emily was born and life continues...
Eventually, I got hired on with the FAA and have basically been with the agency for 25 years now. Bree and Emily have moved to Portland, Oregon and we have adopted another daughter, Kate who was born the same year as Bree.
